Infinity Bay Wedding – Roatan, Honduras

The big day finally arrived for Fernando & Lorena’s Roatan, Honduras wedding at the beautiful Infinity Bay Resort & Spa and it was amazing! The importance of family and friends was just so palpable and it was such an honor to witness and capture the range of emotions present on this very special day. They laughed and cried, smiled and danced against the gorgeous backdrop of Infinity Bay on the stunning island of Roatan. To top it all off, there were two very special performances during the reception.

This was one amazing fire show!

The Garifuna dancers were absolutely incredible to watch!

Roatan Island Honduras Underwater Session

Well this was just plain too much fun.  We happened to mention to Fernando and Lorena that we would love to do an underwater session with them in the gorgeous crystal clear water of Roatan Island and on the day before their wedding, we set out into the water to have some fun!  With a camera tucked safely inside underwater housing, we ventured into the world of underwater photography.  We have taken photos in and around water before (camera partially submerged in the Gulf of Mexico for example) but the crystal clear water of the Caribbean Sea provided us with a unique opportunity to photograph completely submerged.  It was seriously so much fun and definitely qualified as a comedy as we all took turns submerging.  It was definitely a challenge for the couple to try to appear peaceful and calm underwater.  And it was challenging for us as we discovered a little game of leap frog (I’ll hold you under while you photograph if you hold me under while I photograph) helped us overcome a little problem called buoyancy.

Antigua Guatemala Wedding Photography – Rock the Dress Session

Words really do seem to fail when introducing this blog post.  So we’ll start at the beginning.  We photographed Brittany & Rodrigo’s wedding at the Postcard Inn in October 2011.  It was a gorgeous wedding for such a sweet couple and Rodrigo’s cousin Fernando was in attendance.  When Fernando and Lorena began planning their Roatan Island, Honduras wedding, they contacted us inquiring about their date and, lo and behold, we were booked for their wedding date.  We were pretty crushed as it sounded like an amazing wedding for a wonderful couple and they seemed to really love our photos so much.  What an incredible surprise we received when Fernando suggested moving their wedding date so that we would be able to photograph their wedding!  Amazing!  We were honored and humbled for so very many reasons.  Fast forward to the day of this session.  Fernando and Lorena live in Guatemala and Fernando’s family has an absolutely incredible vacation home in Antigua, Guatemala.  On the grounds of this stunning home was where we began and ended Fernando & Lorena’s pre-wedding Rock the Dress session.  We were also fortunate enough to have the opportunity to wander the streets of beautiful and historic Antigua, Guatemala for some awesome wedding photos.

The first time Fernando saw Lorena in her wedding gown was not on their wedding day. In fact it was a few days prior to their wedding day. Wait until you see the emotions as she walked down the aisle on their wedding day to dispel any myths that a first look takes away from that moment :)
